Following the conclusion of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022, we look at the facts and figures surrounding the contest and its participants.
This evening the 2022 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest took place in Yerevan, Armenia. Sixteen countries took part, with the overall winner, France, receiving a total of 203 points. Let’s take a look at the updated facts surrounding each participating country.
🇫🇷 France – 1st place
France is one of the most successful countries in Junior Eurovision history, having finished in 1st position two times in the last 3 years. Their lowest place was 6th place in 2004.
🇦🇲 Armenia – 2nd place
Armenia now has five 2nd places to their name, the most any country has ever received.
🇬🇪 Georgia – 3rd place
While Georgia still holds the record for most JESC wins (3), they received their first 3rd-place finish today.
🇮🇪 Ireland – 4th place
Ireland received their best-ever result this evening, 4th place. Previously, their best result was 10th place in 2016.
🇬🇧 United Kingdom – 5th place
The UK returned to the contest for the first time since 2005 and finished in 5th place, finishing 1st in the public vote.
🇪🇸 Spain – 6th place
Spain finished in 6th place, which is an improvement on last year’s 15th place. They also finished 2nd in the public vote this year.
🇳🇱 The Netherlands – 7th place
The Netherlands finished in 7th place, which is the third time they’ve finished in this position since 2003.
🇵🇹 Portugal – 8th place
Like Ireland, Portugal also received their best-ever placing this evening (8th place). Before this, their best result was 11th in 2021.
🇺🇦 Ukraine – 9th place / 🇵🇱 Poland – 10th place / 🇮🇹 Italy – 11th place
Unfortunately, not much can be said about these results. These placings are not the countries’ best results, nor are they the worst.
🇦🇱 Albania – 12th place
Although they finished in 12th place, this is Albania’s second-best result in the history of their participation in the contest. Their best result was 5th place in 2015.
🇷🇸 Serbia – 13th place
Serbia finishes in 13th, the same position as last year.
🇲🇰 North Macedonia – 14th place
Unfortunately, North Macedonia receive one of their worst placings this year (14th place).
🇰🇿 Kazakhstan – 15th place
Kazakhstan finished in 15th place, which is now their worst placing in the contest. Before this, it was their 8th place finish last year.
🇲🇹 Malta – 16th place
Malta now has three last places to their name, matching the record set by North Macedonia, who also has three.
