Just over 700,000 viewers watched the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 as the BBC broadcast the contest for the first time.
A viewing audience of “a little over 700,000 viewers” watched the final of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 yesterday on BBC One and CBBC. The viewing share for the contest has not been announced, but the contest was not among the top 20 most-watched shows broadcast yesterday.
The viewing figures are comparable to when ITV last participated in the competition in 2005. In 2005 the live broadcast on ITV2 was followed by 171,000 viewers, while 700,000 viewers followed the delayed broadcast on ITV1.
The viewing figures reported for Junior Eurovision 2022 are:
- France – 1,110,000 viewers – 8.9% share
- Germany – 170,000 viewers – 2.1% share
- Ireland – 15,300 – 2.1% share
- Italy – 1,523,000 viewers – 11.7% share
- Netherlands – 279,000 viewers – 1.7% share
- Poland – 2,100,000 viewers – 15.1% share
- Portugal – 319,400 viewers – 3.4/8.8% share
- Spain – 1,183,000 viewers – 10.1% share
- United Kingdom – 700,000 viewers – share TBA
Freya Skye represented the United Kingdom at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with “Lose My Head”. She finished 5th with 146 points and won the online vote scoring 80 points.
