Czech Republic: ESCZ 2023 Finalists Announced

Ceska Televize has announced the five finalists that will compete in ESCZ 2023 on January 30 in Prague.

The five artists competing to represent the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 have been announced. The final of ESCZ 2023 is taking place on January 30 at 21:00 CET, the winner will be determined by 70% international online voting and 30% Czech public voting. The winner will be announced on February 6.

The five finalists are:

  • Maella
  • Markéta Irglová
  • Pam Rabbit
  • RODAN
  • Vesna

Fans of national selections will recognise two of the artists competing to represent the Czech Republic in Liverpool. Markéta Irglová competed in the Icelandic national selection in 2022, while Pam Rabbit competed in the Czech selection in 2019 and 2020.

ESCZ 2023 is the first live national final organised in the Czech Republic for 15 years.ESCZ was first held as an online selection in 2017 and has been used since then to select every Czech entry. On its first two appearances in 2007 and 2008, a televised selection called Eurosong was held to select the Czech entry for Eurovision.

The Czech Republic was represented by We Are Domi with “Lights Off”. The group finished 4th in Semi-Final Two but placed 22nd in the Grand Final with 38 points. They received 5 points from the public all from North Macedonia and 33 points from the juries.
