The fourth artist in our Who Is series for Eurovision 2023 is Joker Out from Slovenia.
Joker Out was formed in 2016 in Ljubljana. The current line up consists of Bojan Cvjetićanin (lead vocals), Kris Guštin (guitar, backing vocals), Jan Peteh (guitar, backing vocals), Jure Maček (drums) and Nace Jordan (bass, backing vocals). Bojan, Kris and Jan are all founding members of the band while Jure and Nace joined in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Joker Out released their debut single “Kot srce, ki kri poganja” in November 2016. In June 2017, they won the fourth season of Špil liga, a nationwide competition for student musical groups and soloists. After the competition, they released their second single “Omamljeno telo”.
In November 2019, Joker Out held their first independent concert at Ljubljana Castle. After several more singles released in 2020 and 2021, they released their first studio album “Umazane misli” in October 2021. During those same years, they received two Zlata piščal awards: in 2020 for “Newcomers of the Year”, and in 2021 for “Artists of the Year”.
In August 2022, Joker Out released their second studio album “Demoni”. This included “Demoni”, the band’s first release in Serbian.
Joker Out were internally selected to represent Slovenia in Liverpool. They are only the second Slovenian representatives in history not to be selected through EMA.
The song that Joker Out will perform in Liverpool is called “Carpe Diem”. It was written and composed by all five band members.
